July 23, 1864 is the birth date of the paralytic, Apolinario Mabini, an active advocate for independence. He wrote “La Revolucion Filipina” (The Philippine Revolution), which was translated to English by Leon Ma. Guerrero in 1969. Cultural programs are held in various schools in the country.
